Our EMIBO recycling system

Awarded with the German Packaging Award 2020

The EXCOR EMIBO Classic is plastic-based and therefore particularly suitable for multiple-use applications. The EXCOR recycling system was specially developed for the EXCOR EMIBO Classic. Production, collection, return transport, and disposal take place entirely in Germany.

The farsighted use of resources is our central foundation for ecological sustainability. That’s why we focus on keeping products in the cycle for as long as possible. To achieve this, we rely on refilling the EMIBO capsules with new granulates and optionally using RFID technology to determine the durability of the capsules.

The measures required for this are divided into 4 individual steps:

1. Collection and return transport

Expired EMIBO capsules are collected in suitable containers. EXCOR provides these containers if required. For monitoring the capsules’ expiration date, RFID technology can optionally be used.

4. Reutilisation

The recycled EMIBO Classic capsules are ready to re-enter the cycle.

2. Professional dismantling and separation of recyclable materials

Plastic granulate is collected for reprocessing. The plastic outer packaging is checked for potential reuse.

3. Recycling process

Reprocessing of the plastic granulate with VCI active ingredient.
Reuse of the plastic outer packaging by refilling it with fresh EXCOR VCI granulate, thereby saving resources.

Proven Success in Environmental Protection

In the past two years, we have returned more than half a million EMIBO dispenser capsules through the EXCOR collection container system. Of these, 408,356 capsules were reused. This corresponds to a reuse rate of 75%.
