Liquid corrosion protection PERIGOL DW 100

PERIGOL DW 100 from EXCOR is a solvent-based dewatering fluid, primarily suited to the corrosion protection of ferrous base metals, bare or partially galvanised steel, cast iron and other types of metal. It offers excellent water-displacing properties.

On metal parts that come from aqueous machining processes, the PERIGOL DW 100 preservative oil removes the moisture and corrosion-promoting substances dissolved in it from the surface. A non-slip film that protects against corrosion is then formed. The anti-corrosive property can also be used for dry parts, e.g. by spraying. A non-slip film is more resistant to mechanical and thermal stress and offers increased dependability, even in extreme climatic conditions.

Typical applications:

  • Removal of cooling lubricant residues
  • Removal of moisture and corrosive salts dissolved therein from sensitive metal surfaces using the immersion process, and the simultaneous application of a dependable corrosion protection

How dewatering works

Residual moisture on metal parts can become a problem in industry; it always marks a starting point for corrosion. Unpleasant consequences may become apparent only much later on – such as rusting under the final coat of paint. This means costly rework or, ultimately, even the product’s disposal.

If you want to prevent corrosion, you should, therefore, ensure absolute dryness. There are different methods available here. Drying by heat is obvious. However, this takes a lot of time and is energy-intensive.

Another method is known as the dewatering process: So-called hydrophobic molecules infiltrate the aqueous film on the metal’s surface, at which point the water beads up and is completely displaced from the surface. Dewatering is, therefore, a dependable, time- and resource-saving method of corrosion protection.
